Zaray Rodriguez

ZARAY RODRIGUEZHailed for her superb acting and vocal power (Classical South Florida; El Nuevo Herald), Cuban American mezzo-soprano Zaray Rodriguez is equally at home performing works from the classic and modern repertoire in both operatic and concert work. Rodriguez has performed with various music organizations including Seraphic Fire’s Professional Choral Institute, where their recording of the Johannes Brahms’ Ein Deutches Requiem received a Grammy Nomination. Solo concert engagements include performances of various works such as Handel’s Messiah, and Bach Cantata BWV 243 for Masterworks Chorus, Palm Beach Atlantic University Symphony orchestra, Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra among others. In her recent performance with the Henri Mancini Institute, she performed Maria Schneider’s Souvenir of an Ancient World where she was commended for her “superbly prepared and vocally secure…[performance of] Maria Schneider’s demanding vocal writing (Classical South Florida).”  Recently, Rodriguez had her debut with the Frost Opera Theater performing the lead mezzo roles of Zita in Gianni Schicchi, and Principessa in Suor Angelica.

Miss Rodriguez is a graduate from Palm Beach Atlantic University where she studied both piano and vocal performance, and is now pursuing a Masters in Vocal Performance at the University of Miami Frost School of Music.  Awards and recognitions include the Sylvia Brainen piano competition, Who’s Who Among American College Students, and Outstanding Graduate of Palm Beach Atlantic University School of Music. Rodriguez is currently a Georgina Dieter Denis Foundation Music Scholarship recipient.
